Keira enjoys her first blizzard!

The Blizzard of 2009 dumped about 18-20 inches on Northern Virginia over the course of the day on Saturday. Daddy and Grandma took Keira outside on Saturday while they shoveled snow. She was not a fan of the snow so she pretty much stayed inside the garage watching them shovel and shoveling a bit of snow that Daddy piled up for her at the edge of the garage.

After shoveling, they enjoyed some hot cocoa (Keira got some chocolate milk) and a warm fire.

On Sunday, the snow had stopped falling so Daddy and Grandma tried taking Keira back outside that morning to see what she thought of the snow when it was just on the ground. Still not a fan!

Later that day, they tried again but this time gave Keira a snow shovel to push around (the neighbor across the street brought a kid-sized one over on Saturday for Keira as his boys are teenagers now). She liked that idea and suddenly they had a "Snow Monster" on their hands. She did not want to go back inside!

The only bad thing about the snowstorm was that it meant that they were home bound for the weekend! That meant they couldn't come visit Mommy at the hospital. We had to make do with Skyping instead. The plows finally came at about 7:30 pm on Sunday night so Ryan was able to come visit me tonight.

Fall Festival fun

Daddy, Keira and I met friends at Cox Farms on opening weekend.  We got in free as members!  It was a beautiful day weather-wise and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We had a lot of fun seeing the animals (piglets were being born at that moment!),

...going down the slides (Daddy and Keira did anyway),

(with almost some bad results!)

...and eating snacks with friends.

Keira thought she wanted to go on a pony ride, but when it came time to get on the pony, it turned out she did not!  We got a refund.

Keira had much more fun in the toddler play area!

I think she was asleep in the car before we even left the parking lot!

Baby gorilla at the Zoo!

We went to the National Zoo today with Aunt Kelly and Uncle Adrian. I didn't do a very good job taking pictures as the only ones I took were of the baby gorilla. But it was darn cute!

Visit from Aunt Kelly and Uncle Adrian!

Aunt Kelly and Uncle Adrian are staying with us this week. Today, the four of us (poor Daddy had to work!) went to the Air & Space Museum and Keira showed them around.

We ate lunch at the McCafe. Keira's first experience with McDonald's. She seemed to like it just fine!
We checked out various airplanes and exhibits.
Then Keira amused herself with her new toy from McDonald's. This was definitely the laugh of the day!
We had to get a pic with this interesting statue in the background.

Chillin' by the Pool

Keira and Mommy went over to our friends' pool this morning. Keira enjoyed the water and here are some pictures of her enjoying snack time!

Take a seat at the Air & Space Museum

Daddy, Keira, and I spent the afternoon at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Dulles. Parking is free after 4 pm, so we decided to let Keira have a go running around the airplane hangar and expending some energy.

Her favorite part of the museum? All the chairs!

We had to try them all out!

Almost literally...see for yourselves!

Cherry Blossoms are beautiful

Spring is officially here in the DC area! The three of us went to see the cherry blossoms down in DC this Sunday morning. We spent about 2 1/2 hours walking around and sitting for a while eating a big morning snack. We parked at Arlington Cemetery and walked over to the Lincoln Memorial before heading over to the Tidal Basin.

Keira really enjoyed herself - people watching, nature watching, and walking around during snacktime. Here are some pictures from our beautiful morning.

Walk in the park

Since it was a gorgeous Spring....err, February...day today, we decided to take a walk to the park this afternoon. It seriously was in the mid-60s. Fabulous park weather, without wearing a hat or anything! There was a nice breeze blowing and the sun was shining.

Daddy helped Keira toddle around our street before we went on our way.

She's getting to be so independent.

She was so excited to be walking "on her own."

Are you coming, Mommy?

Time to pose for the camera before heading to the park...

Are you still with us, Mommy?

Swinging is fun...

Time for the teeter totter...

Crawling around on the playground...

Daddy puts Keira back in her stroller...

Time to say goodbye to the park...

What a fun afternoon...we are so blessed to have such a beautiful little girl.
