Pickles and Ice Cream?

No, we're not talking pregnancy here, but Keira does enjoy eating both pickles and ice cream at our favorite eatery Jason's Deli. Here's proof!

Holy Cow!

Tonight Keira and I were in the bathroom brushing her teeth before bed. The toothpaste fell off the shelf when I grabbed for it and the noise surprised me so I said "Holy cow!"

Keira replied, "Moo."

Yes, she knows her animal sounds quite well! Even the holy animals :)

Chillin' by the Pool

Keira and Mommy went over to our friends' pool this morning. Keira enjoyed the water and here are some pictures of her enjoying snack time!

Just being cute!

I thought Keira looked adorable tonight and just couldn't resist taking some pictures. She now says "cheese" and smiles at the camera when I tell her to say it. She is getting so big!
While Daddy is out of town on a business trip this week, we have been having a fun time together. We went to playgroup at the library this morning, and out to dinner with Ellen at Jason's Deli tonight. We, of course, had ice cream cones. Yummy!

This little piggy...

Tonight after going potty, a truly terrible event occurred. Keira was grabbing for her sippy cup full of water off the bathroom counter and it slipped out of her hand. I could see it falling, but was unable to catch it before it fell...with full vertical force on the big toe of my right foot. It was quite painful and I was in severe pain for several hours. I even called Ryan on the phone to ask him how I would know if my toe was broken and broke down crying while talking to him as it hurt that badly. A bruise showed up pretty quickly.

After putting Keira to bed for the night with some difficulty, I spent the rest of the evening icing the toe and keeping it elevated. The pain lessened some before I headed to bed, but I tossed and turned quite a bit trying to get comfortable without hurting the toe. This morning I awoke to find that the toe felt much better and I was able to get around today without much hobbling. Tomorrow the real test will come when I try to put on sneakers and go to my speed walking class.

At one point last night, I equated the pain I was feeling to the pain I felt while in labor before birth to Keira. Yes, it hurt A LOT!

I now have some bright blue bruising on my toe. So beautiful! The photo really doesn't do it justice.
Who knew a 14 oz. sippy cup could pack such a punch?!?

Going potty

This past weekend, Keira started to say "pee pee" and point to her diaper so I tried putting her on the toilet seat to see if she was interested in trying to go. The first time I put her on it, she was pretty surprised by what was happening and quickly slipped back off. So I put her diaper back on and waited for the next opporunity.

So this morning I got her to sit on the potty without taking her diaper off. She got a big kick out of that and sat on it for quite a while.

This evening she said "pee pee" and pointed to her diaper. I asked her if she wanted to go potty and she nodded her head. So we headed into the powder room and I placed her "Blue's Clues" potty seat on top of the toilet seat. I took off her pants and diaper and set her on the seat. No peeing actually occurred, but she was happy as a princess sitting on her throne. I actually had to talk her off the pot by distracting her with getting a cup of water.

After getting off the potty, she flushed the toilet and washed her hands, then I put her diaper and pants back on.

I realize that we are a long way from potty training, but it has to start somewhere!

Take a seat at the Air & Space Museum

Daddy, Keira, and I spent the afternoon at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Dulles. Parking is free after 4 pm, so we decided to let Keira have a go running around the airplane hangar and expending some energy.

Her favorite part of the museum? All the chairs!

We had to try them all out!

Almost literally...see for yourselves!
